MKEF at OXFORD SCHOOL

The Metanoia Kleos Empowerment Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Bangalore, India, focused on improving mental health awareness. Our mission is to create a supportive environment where people can openly discuss mental health issues and seek help without fear of judgment.

Mental health is often overlooked in India, leading to a lack of understanding and stigma around mental health conditions. At Metanoia Kleos, we aim to change this by providing education, resources, and support to individuals and communities. We offer workshops, counseling, and support groups to help people manage their mental health and encourage open conversations about mental wellness.

Our team is dedicated to making a positive impact on the community by raising awareness and providing practical tools for mental health care. We believe that everyone deserves access to mental health support and that breaking the silence around these issues is key to fostering a healthier, more informed society.

By working closely with local communities, we strive to build a more compassionate and understanding environment where mental health is treated with the care and respect it deserves.

Metanoia Kleos Empowerment Foundation majorly works towards raising awareness on the following five pillars :-

Good Touch, Bad Touch: We educate individuals, especially children and young adults, about the difference between safe and unsafe physical contact. This pillar focuses on empowering people with the knowledge and confidence to recognize and report inappropriate behavior, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Bullying: Our programs address the impact of bullying in schools and communities. We provide resources and workshops to help individuals recognize, prevent, and deal with bullying, promoting a culture of respect and kindness.

Anxiety: We offer support and tools to manage anxiety, including counseling and stress-relief techniques. Our goal is to help individuals understand and cope with their anxiety, improving their quality of life.

Depression: This pillar focuses on raising awareness about depression, providing counseling, and offering resources to those affected. We aim to break the stigma surrounding depression and support individuals in their journey towards mental wellness.

Low Self-Esteem: We work to build self-confidence and self-worth in individuals through workshops and personal development programs. Our approach helps people recognize their value and strengths, fostering a healthier self-image and overall well-being.

The Metanoia Kleos Empowerment Foundation recently conducted a counseling session at Oxford School in Bangalore, focusing on mental health awareness for students. The session aimed to provide students with essential tools and support to handle various mental health challenges they might face, including anxiety, depression, and issues related to bullying and self-esteem.

The session began with an introduction to mental health, explaining its importance and encouraging students to talk openly about their feelings. The counselors used simple language to ensure that all students, regardless of their age, could understand and engage with the material. They discussed common issues like stress from exams, peer pressure, and how to identify both good and bad touch, emphasizing the importance of personal boundaries.

Interactive activities were a key part of the session. Students participated in role-playing exercises to practice handling bullying and expressing their feelings. They also learned techniques for managing anxiety, such as deep breathing and mindfulness. The counselors addressed questions from students, creating a safe space for them to share their experiences and concerns. The session concluded with a discussion on resources available for further support, including how to approach a trusted adult or counselor if they need help. By the end of the day, students had gained valuable insights into mental health and learned practical strategies to improve their well-being. Overall, the session was a positive step towards fostering a supportive environment at Oxford School where mental health is openly discussed and addressed.
