Introduction

The mental health awareness workshop conducted at Sri Sai Krupa Charitable Trust aimed to foster emotional well-being, Anxiety, low self-esteem and depression enabling children to navigate challenges with confidence.

Objective

      ● Educate participants on the importance of mental health.
      ● Identify signs of stress, anxiety, or depression in children.
      ● Provide practical tools for emotional regulation and coping.
      ● Strengthen support systems within the orphanage.


Participants

      ● 20 children aged [8 – 16] years.


Facilitators

The session was conducted by mental health professionals, including team members and
counselors with expertise in child psychology, emotional well-being, and trauma recovery.

Workshop Activities

1. Ice-Breaker Session
      ● Interactive games to build trust and create a comfortable environment.
      ● Activities: Quiz, Simon says game it is for fun entertainment.

2. Introduction to Mental Health
      ● Simplified explanation of mental health and its importance.
      ● Explained about 5 pillars, good and bad touch, bullying, depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.
      ● Use of age-appropriate examples.

3. Signs and Symptoms of Emotional Struggles
      ● Role-play scenarios depicting anxiety.
      ● Encouraged children to share their feelings in a safe space.

4. Coping Mechanisms
      ● Techniques like deep breathing, positive affirmations, and journaling.

5. Support Networks and Seeking Help
      ● Importance of talking to trusted adults or peers.
      ● Introduction of designated mental health support personnel in the orphanage.

 

Outcomes

      ● Enhanced awareness about mental health among children and staff.
      ● Increased openness in discussing feelings and seeking help.


Feedback

      ● Children expressed enjoyment and shared positive feedback on activities.
      ● Staff requested follow-up workshops for deeper understanding and further counseling sessions.


Recommendations

      1. Regular workshops and counseling sessions to build continuity in mental health education.
